Your quad bike is an asset just waiting to be liquidated by a thief,
being the number one item on their shopping list. Maximum security
is a must, if you want to hang on to your wheels.
- House your quad in a securely locked garage, preferably alarmed. This
will not only protect your quad, but also help keep your insurance
premium down.
- If you don't have a garage, keep your quad out of view as much as
possible, covering it with a tarpaulin or ground sheet.
- Use an electronic tagging device such as Datatag to help deter
thieves from stealing your quad for its parts.
- Don't just secure your lock around the tyre. A bike thief will just
load the quad into a van and replace the tyre later. Make sure you pass
the chain through the quad frame and lock it around with a strong,
immovable object such as a lamppost, railing or ground anchor.
- To maximise your quad bike security, Bikesure recommends The
Immobiliser Series Chains from retailer Almax Security. Why?
Because these chains are made from carbon manganese steel alloy,
enhanced with boron and most significantly and importantly, they are
impossible to bolt crop by hand. As the hardest chain on the market,
the Immobiliser Series 2 is freeze-resistant, with a maximum breaking
load of 39 tonnes. Use these exclusive chains in conjunction with a
ground anchor and your quad will have the ultimate level of deterrents
for bike thieves.
- Finally, make sure you protect your quad with a good insurance
policy that covers you for losses that you may incur, be that through
accident, or as a result of theft. It's a myth that insurers won't
cover quad bikes, so help explode this by first of all getting your
own quad fully protected and then by passing your top tip on to your
quad-riding mates.
- All it takes to get yourself protected is a call to Bikesure on
0800 089 2000 to cover any type of
quad under its 4Quads policy. Alternatively, click here
and get a quotation online!
- Even kids quads can be protected against theft, so if your quad isn't
covered, make sure you do something about it today.
